Camryn's Firsts for the Past Few Weeks
First time to be dunked. Last weekend, we spent time with Aunt Kayleigh and Bryleigh swimming at Nama's house (Kayleigh's Mom). It was so much fun!
Posing in the pool in her new hat from GJ (Thank you for the hat! It matches her bathing suit and is big enough to block the sun!!!). GJ (Caleb's Grandma Janet) brought Camryn this hat and cute monkey top for her 1/2 birthday last month. So sweet!
Right after the dunk. She did so good - Kevin dunked her under water real quick and then brought her up and she didn't cry or fuss or anything! (I didn't either, although I sort of wanted to!). She seems to really like the water...
Snuggling with Aunt Kayleigh after a tough day swimming...such a sweet baby...
First time to hang out in Grandma Linda's backyard. Mom has a great backyard - big trees which provide us shade and lots of open yard for Otis and Tate to run around like crazy dogs (ok, just Otis), so the past two Sunday afternoons I've taken Camryn and the puppies over to there to play in the sun.
Smiling for the camera shortly after our arrival. (What's funny is that this is the face she gives me when she sees me hold up the camera now. It's hilarious!)
Smiling for the camera from the baby pool. The past two summers, we've had similar pools that were for Otis and he would run and play and jump and splash... well, he thinks he can still do that in Camryn's baby pool. We have to really watch him because while he would never ever hurt her, he's big and loves the water too... (You can tell he's been in the pool with her from the floating grass and dirt. I try not to focus on that b/c she's just having too much fun!)
Smiling for the camera after eating lunch (bib with bikini looks so funny - she didn't mind though). Definitely not camera shy!First week to show determination in holding her own bottle. She has been showing more and more frustration with the bottle since we've been giving her a sippy cup with water, which she can get more out of it in a shorter time. Now, she wants to hold the bottle herself (even though sometimes she can't hold it up high enough and ends up sucking air) and she puts the ENTIRE bottle nipple in her mouth. She's pretty strong in her arms and can pull it herself. It's a bad habit that we'll need to break - Kevin thinks that if we move up to a bigger bottle nipple size she might be happier. But at least she's cute feeding herself... this is her breakfast bottle before we were heading over to see Nana-Darla on Saturday!
First time to swim at Nana-Darla's house. Kevin and I took Camryn to see Nana-Darla Saturday morning and stayed a few hours. The pool was refreshing (I think that's what you say when it's colder than cold?!? haha)... Camryn did great, even though it was cold. After the pool, she played for a long time in the play pen and loved it. She was worn out too - took a two hour nap after this visit!
First time to really crawl (backwards). She has been moving backwards a little bit at a time for awhile, but last night was the first time she was determined and was on the move! She was trying to crawl to us, but the only way she could go was backwards and then everytime she moved, she was more frustrated. I would have made a video to post, but she was fussing the whole time (which is funny, but a little sad too). She scooted right off the blanket and then was stuck against her dresser! Poor baby!
First time to play a New Game. I put her in the crib with a bunch of toys when I'm cleaning or folding her clothes up in her room -- we play peek a boo over the top of the crib and she's figured out that if she moves the bumper, she can see me down there -- when she does that and sees us, BIG laughs. So much fun!
And now, for the fun picture(s) of the past few weeks!
Otis is ALWAYS underfoot -- always wants to be where the action is and I swear, Camryn's first words are going to be, "No Otis" or "Get down Otis" or "Leave the kitty alone Otis" -- no way will she say something like normal babies - "Dada" or "Mama" - will have something do to with Otis. So, in the spirit of that, here are two funny pictures of Otis and Camryn from the past two weekends.
Last weekend, I was sitting behind Camryn when she was in the little pool at Mom's house and Otis snuck in for a kiss --
Last night as Kevin was getting Camryn in the bathtub, someone (Otis) was in my spot, wanting to help too --
More in a few weeks!
